My submission for the OST composing jam : crunchtime 04

I totally forgot it was this weekend, and I had several things planned, but I really wanted to compose something so I kind of rushed this one.

As a French person, I associate freedom and liberty with the 1789’s French revolution, so I aimed for a heroic song. I chose instruments typically militaryish, and adding the high pitched flute gave me the image of a young boy running amidst the chaos occuring in Paris at that time. As a result the music suddenly felt more bright and cheerful. I tried to use unexpected chords and key changes. I never compose this kind of stuff so it was really fun.

The short intro would play during the opening cutscene of a short arcade-like game. You’re controlling the young boy, travelling through the labyrinthic streets and barricades of Paris. As you progress and discover new places and ennemies to avoid, the main music gains more and more instruments. When you reach the end, the music fades out to the final piano part, and you are rewarded by a cutscene.
